The effects of the play activities cognitive behavior therapy on the perception about parental divorce

Abstract
This study purposed to investigate the effects of play activities with cognitive behavior therapy on child¡¯s perception about parental divorce, and self-esteem of a child who experienced parental divorce. The subject of this study was one case with 9 years(female) referred by social worker, who observed her and found her having problematic belief due to parental divorce and showing some problematic behaviors such as aggressiveness, stubborn, a transparent falsehood. Change in the child¡¯s perception about parental divorce was measured using The Child¡¯s Beliefs About Parental Divorce Scale, Self-monitoring, Thought-Sheet before and after the treatment. And change in the child¡¯s self-perception was measured using Hare Self-Esteem Scale before and after treatment. It was consisted of 10 sessions, twice in a week, 60 minutes for per session. The result of this study were as follows: First, child¡¯s perceptions about divorce that is about desertion, self-blame, fantasy of re-union was changed positively after treatment. Second, child¡¯s perceptions about self and self-esteem was changed positively after program.
